Infantino: By 2026, soccer will be the most popular sport in North America

FIFA today announced the 16 cities that will host the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. FIFA President Gianni Infantino believes soccer will become the most popular sport in North America by 2026.

“By 2026, football will be the most popular sport in the region, it will be the most competitive World Cup, we will have teams from all over the world and an exciting tournament,” Infantino said. There are still some discussions to take place and we will of course choose the best city for the opening ceremony and the final, but every game will be the final of this World Cup.”

“It’s amazing that the United States is a part of the World Cup in Qatar and then we have the World Cup,” said Pulisic, who will host 48 teams for the 2026 Tournament.
