Liverpool are pushing for the renewal of keita and Joe gomez and hope to reach an agreement

Keita and Joe Gomez are both expected to sign new contracts at Liverpool, according to James Pearce of The Athletic.

After completing the important task of re-signing Salah, Liverpool will next push to sign Joe Gomez and Keita. Liverpool are hoping Joe Gomez will sign an extension to his current contract, which expires in 2024.

Liverpool are understood to be aware of Joe Gomez’s frustration at his limited playing time and his desire for more. Joe Gomez made just four premier League starts in 2021-22, but Liverpool still recognise his quality and would only consider selling him if they received a large bid.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in talks with Keita over a new contract. James Pierce noted that he is aware of the polarizing opinions and attitudes surrounding Keita, but that he personally believes keita deserves credit for the second half of the 21-22 season. Given Keita’s previous injury-prone nature, the Guinea midfielder’s tally of 40 appearances this season is not bad.

Klopp, on the other hand, still believes in Keita if he does not renew his contract in the future. Liverpool could risk losing him on a free transfer next summer, having paid £52.75 million for him.
