Newcastle united could turn to Ekitic and Botman after signing Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope for £10m, according to Sky Sports' Keith Downie.

"Pope arrived in the early hours of the morning, spent some time at the club's training ground and then walked briskly into the stadium behind me," the reporter said.

"He has been meeting club officials to finalise a deal to join from Burnley. Newcastle had agreed a deal with relegated Burnley on Tuesday to sign the England international for a fee in the region of £10m, then he underwent a medical this morning and completed the move.

"I suspect the transfer will be done very quickly and should be finalised this afternoon (local time). This is another acquisition for Eddie Howe following his buyout of Target two weeks ago."

"Newcastle have spent around £22m in the first two weeks of the summer transfer window. As we know, they are in talks to sign Reims striker Ekitic and Lille defender Portman. If Newcastle complete these transfers, the pair will cost more than target and Pope, and the Magpies are keen to bring them to the club.
